Urgent Notice to All Club Secretaries

Please be aware that unless you have correctly completed and returned your club re-affiliation paperwork for 2016, your club will not be insured. We are unable to make any exceptions to this ruling as our underwriters will not accept claims made if the correct paperwork has not been submitted and received at our NSRA offices.

Please note that if you have already submitted your renewal paperwork, your club will be covered by our insurance, providing this is complete and correct. Any slight delay you may experience in receiving confirmation of your renewal is due to the Christmas / New Year break and the resulting volume of work we have to process.

To avoid unnecessary telephone calls and if you have yet to send in your renewal paperwork, please refer to the letter sent to you in October 2015, detailing the relevant forms for completion, the information required and the club renewal fee payable for 2016.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation and understanding during what is for us a very busy time of the year.

Lord Roberts Centre

It would seem that individuals have been spreading a rumour that the Junior International,  held at the Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley Camp in August, has been cancelled.  This is not the case and the event is programmed to take place between 8th to 11th August 2016.  Entries are still being taken and the closing date for entries has been extended until the 20th May 2016.

The NSRA has lead a major review of the junior squad structure operating under the auspices of the NSRA throughout the country. A series of recommendations have been followed through and the structure of the National and Regional Squads operating under the auspices of the NSRA have been changed and put in place. The changes dovetail with the British Shooting Performance Pathway and provide a way for potential elite shooters to develop, advance and achieve their potential. The previous Great Britain Junior Rifle Squad and Great Britain Junior Pistol Squads have been replaced and new Head Coaches appointed. The aim of the process is to produce “champions” who will be molded into international athletes by working with recognised coaches and then British Shooting when appropriate. Those aspiring to become international athletes will need to follow the performance pathway agreed through partnership working between the NSRA and British Shooting.

It would seem that other squads are being developed that are outside of this agreed pathway so care will be needed in terms of the choices made by young shooters and their parents if they wish to access the Performance Pathway.

Entry forms are now available for download for the British Open Benchrest Championships on the 10-12 June 2016. There are separate forms for NSRA rules and WRABF Rules.

Obituaries correctedThe Association would like to offer a sincere apology to the families of both Fred Jennings and Frederick Cook for the mistaken use of a photograph in the obituary section of the Spring 2016 edition of On Target, the NSRA’s quarterly magazine. The photograph in the obituary of Frederick Cook is actually a photograph of Fred Jennings. Both Blaze Publishing and the NSRA are extremely sorry that this unfortunate mistake has been made.

The entry deadline for the Benchrest Meeting being held on 16th-17th April has now been extended to Wednesday 23rd March and no entries will be able to be accepted after this date.

The latest available report from the Chief Executive Officer to the Shooting Council, for their November meeting, is available online.

The Entry form for the Open Benchrest Competition to be held at Bisley on 15-17 April 2016 can be downloaded from the link below. Closing date is 16 March 2016.
