Urgent Notice to All Club Secretaries

Please be aware that unless you have correctly completed and returned your club re-affiliation paperwork for 2016, your club will not be insured. We are unable to make any exceptions to this ruling as our underwriters will not accept claims made if the correct paperwork has not been submitted and received at our NSRA offices.

Please note that if you have already submitted your renewal paperwork, your club will be covered by our insurance, providing this is complete and correct. Any slight delay you may experience in receiving confirmation of your renewal is due to the Christmas / New Year break and the resulting volume of work we have to process.

To avoid unnecessary telephone calls and if you have yet to send in your renewal paperwork, please refer to the letter sent to you in October 2015, detailing the relevant forms for completion, the information required and the club renewal fee payable for 2016.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation and understanding during what is for us a very busy time of the year.

If you need another copy of the forms, all 2016 membership forms can be downloaded below:

A successful workshop concentrating on the future of the NSRA was held at Lord Roberts Centre, Bisley on 27 and 28 January 2018.

Some 40 delegates attended from all regions of the UK and contributed to the sessions which looked at increasing membership as well as reviewing the competition structure.

All disciplines were represented and there was wide geographical representation.

One of the key aspects of the workshops was that “no idea was a bad idea” and that led to some innovative thinking.

The key outputs of the meeting will be distributed to delegates and will be shared on the NSRA website shortly after that.

There will be a continuing consultation with members over the coming months and it is recognised that delivery of certain aspects is key to success.

We regret to inform members of the death of Tim Elson on 6th January 2018.

The funeral will take place on 7th February at noon and will be held at the South West Middlesex Crematorium, Hounslow Road, Hanworth, Feltham, Middlesex TW13 5JH. Details can be found at: http://www.swcrematorium.gov.uk/How-to-find-us.aspx.

The cut off date for submissions using the old form is 28th February 2018.

The NSRA has identified that there is a need to review and probably amend the direction it is taking if it is to guarantee its longevity. A decline in the number of members and affiliated clubs and competition entries has necessitated this review.

The review will be part of a multi stage process throughout 2018 which starts with a series of workshops being held over the weekend of 27/28 January 2018. The Association is asking for individuals to put themselves forward to be part of this first stage review of both the Membership Structure and the Structure of Competitions and Events.

Please find below the Summer 2017 Postal Competition results and national rankings.

We would like to thank you all for taking part in our Summer competitions and we wish you a successful Winter season ahead.

Best Wishes

The wait is finally over and here is the full video from the Roberts Trophy Match verses the USA at Bisley 2017...

As the National Governing Body, the NSRA has a policy in place to not become involved, comment on or reply to personal views or opinions posted on social media and will not respond via social media. However the NSRA will continue to share information on their website, and via our social media when relevant.

Comments on social media represent the personal views of an individual or a group of individuals and these views may not represent the views of the NSRA and may contain nonfactual information, not reflect an accurate picture or be representative of the actual situation.

The Home Office has opened a public consultation on what they consider to be "Offensive and Dangerous Weapons". This includes plans to apply further restrictions on .50 calibre and MARS (Manually Activated Release System) rifles which are currently for target shooting.

The policy intends to remove the availability of these Firearms for civilian use suggesting they may be used for terrorism. The proposed changes will raise them from Section 1 of the Firearms Act where they can be held on a normal Firearms Certificate to Section 5 and so effectively banned.

We are understandably beginning to receive enquiries from NSRA Affiliated Clubs regarding the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which comes into force on the 28th May 2018.

The detail of the regulation is currently being considered by the NSRA, so that the best advice can be communicated to all members as to the implications and recommended actions required.
