Iain Root, Chief Executive Officer has a statement regarding the Club Re-affiliation and Insurance Renewal for 2017. See below for the full statement.
I have been encouraged by the positive feedback we have received from numerous Club Secretaries about the new insurance cover being provided through Bluefin Sport and XL Catlin. Many clubs have been able to save in excess of £100 in terms of the cost of affiliation which is a direct consequence of the increase in the limits of the cover and the breadth of cover being provided. I am very grateful for those that have taken time to contact the Association and express their feelings and gratitude.
At the same time, however, a number of Club Secretaries have contacted the NSRA to raise their concern over the requirement to give the names of all members at their club, along with their contact details, and express their unhappiness that the National Governing Body is asking for this information and that it is a mandatory requirement of the affiliation process. The Association has asked clubs to provide the names of their members for many years with most clubs doing so. This year a new form has been introduced that provides space for the name of members, their telephone number and email address to be entered. The form identifies that the provision of the name is a mandatory requirement with the provision of other details being optional. This is denoted at the top left of the first page of the form where the asterisk in the heading of column one is explained. As explained in the Insurance Brochure the names provided will be managed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2003) and will not be shared, divulged or sold to third parties. They will not be used by Bluefin Sport or XL Catlin to contact club members in an attempt to sell additional insurance or financial services.
